​SALLE COMMUNE is a theatre performance in development in which different forms of knowledge and bodily expression repeatedly compete for authority. In SALLE COMMUNE scientific information, questionable advice, vocal exercises, music and bodily demonstrations coexist within an unstable system of communication. A musician plays the piano while a bodybuilder demonstrates muscular exercises. Conversations unfold through affirmations and interruptions. A hologram of a philosopher joins a world where instructions on raising children, meditation and self-improvement compete with scientific knowledge and bodily expression. While a ritual gains validity through its repetition, what initially appears reasonable may become absurd, coercive or poetic without necessarily changing its content. Sarcasm exposes the ways different forms of knowledge claim authority, even as their certainties are continually overturned. SALLE COMMUNE asks how we encounter one another amid competing instructions and forms of information that seek to organise our behaviour and relations.
